Just because I posted this, doesn't mean I agree with it. Mark and I are friends in real life, but heavily disagree on Mac vs. PC, Liberalism vs. Conservatism, and the Martha Stuart scandal. :)
Most of my counter-points can be summed up here. A senior VP to Apple had the chance to respond to criticisms such as this, and I thin he hit most of Mark's points. One point, however, that was not solved was the price comparison. But I invite you to look at what Mark compared. He's emphasizing Apple's weak points in order to make things more dramatic. For example, he's comparing prices on Apple displays. Anyone familiar with Apple displays knows that it's impossible to make a simple comparison. If Apple were to design a copy-cat Dell display, prices may be lower. However, Apple has other priorities, such as cramming both power and data through one cable as well as designing small case enclosures that are visually appealing. Mark also compares computers with large memory upgrades. Firstly, he acknowledges that Apple is using better RAM. Secondly, he fails to acknowledge that Apple is well known to overprice RAM. Buying from Crucial.com will cut RAM upgrade prices in half. The same is true, although to a lesser extent, with hard drive upgrades. It's my belief that Mark purposefully added extra RAM to both configurations to run up Apple's price unfairly. Mark also unfairly neglects to mention that the Apple uses more expensive, and faster, Serial ATA drives.
